I can draw..but can I write?
(follow me on my journey to become an author/illustrator of Children picture books)
This has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Children’s books (especially picture books) Bring to life 2 of my favorite things: Illustrations and few words that help support the images. It’s the first steps in letting the youth imaginations sore and ideas of what could be start to conjure.
Art has always been my thing since I could remember. If not illustrations then it was making something out of nothing to entertain myself or to have some representation of someone that looked like me when the picking were far in between. Now writing….thats an entire different ball game. It was my weakest subject in school. Fun stories are easy for me, its the putting it down in words that make sense thats the hard part. So I figured that I would have to team up with an author and just be the illustrator to ever complete this dream.
The one day, after watching an animated movie with a strong female lead, I thought to my self…I need to be the main character in my LIFE story and have more confidence in myself. Plus, now auto correct and spell checking is EVERYWHERE and lots of editing on to of editing.
So here I am, signing up for my first online classes. Organizing my school binders next to my kids virtual school homework. Getting ready for a fun adventure I didn’t think was in the stars for me. GeekJoJo the Author/Illustrator…hummm…has a nice ring to it.
